Roblox Developer, deathtothestadium

I'm Joseph, known on Roblox as deathtothestadium. I've spent 10+ years building on the platform, starting the way most developers do: messing around in Studio, breaking things, and slowly figuring out how the pieces actually fit together. Somewhere along the way that turned into a real skillset across scripting, modeling, building, and UI.

These days I don't stick to one lane. A project might have me writing the gameplay systems in the morning and blocking out an environment in the afternoon, I like owning things end to end instead of just handling one narrow slice of a project. That generalist approach is also why I got into tutoring: breaking down how a system works is a lot easier when you've actually built it yourself, from first script to shipped feature.

Outside of Roblox, I work with my hands too, welding and mechanical engineering. It sounds unrelated, but it isn't: thinking in terms of structure, tolerances, and how things actually hold together carries directly into how I build and script. A build that "looks right" but doesn't hold together under real conditions isn't actually done, whether that's a weld or a Roblox rig.

This site itself is part of that same philosophy: the 3D avatar viewer, the .rbxm parser, the script viewer, none of that came off a shelf. I built them by hand because I wanted tools that worked exactly the way I needed, and because a site full of working tools says more about how I build than a portfolio of screenshots ever could.

My Journey

  1. Joined Roblox
    • Joined Roblox as a player and hobbyist.
  2. Joined Irellus
    • Joined Irellus, a fan group for a game made by KDawg.
    • That's where I met my first teachers: Draginator, an aerospace engineer who scripted for the group, and Hamma, the group's builder.
  3. Began Developing
    • Focused on small projects and helping medium-sized games with game mechanics.
    • Started as a builder, constructing sci-fi worlds and popular tycoon maps.
  4. Mentorship & Skill-Building
    • Draginator taught me math, trigonometry, and my first scripts.
    • Hamma showed me the building side, from world layout to construction technique.
    • Learned Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) and techniques for creating custom assets and tools.
  5. Broadening the Fundamentals
    • Branched out into other programming languages and paradigms outside Roblox: Python, C, C++, C#, Batch, JavaScript, and Java, alongside going deeper into Lua.
    • Picked up more data structures and algorithms, and got into the habit of taking things apart to understand how they actually worked.
    • Used that broader foundation to start building more complex systems back in Roblox.
  6. Expanded Skill Set
    • Started using Blender for 3D modeling.
    • Began to gain the ability to solo-develop most game concepts.
  7. Career Shift
    • Lost a programming job as a website designer.
    • Took a job at Amazon while refining Roblox development skills from home.
    • Adopted the name Roblox Tutor to start teaching and sharing skills with others.
  8. Current
    • Experienced developer and educator in the Roblox community, combining years of building, scripting, and 3D design expertise.
